eBridges 2021 - Workshop #2: Diagnosis - a missing step in bridge care?

The case study for this workshop is Perran Wharf Bridge, with kind permission of Cornwall Council and Cormac Solutions Ltd., for whom we developed the 3D model.

The model below should load with this page - wait until the detailed surface “texture” appears. You can then navigate using the mouse.

  • Left click and drag to rotate.

  • Right click and drag to move.

  • Use scroll action (wheel on mouse, two finger drag on trackpad, etc) to zoom

The two arrow button at the bottom right will take the model to full screen mode.

You might get a bit more surface detail by switching to HD mode, also bottom right.

Orthos and unrolls

In addition to the 3D view, you can access a set of synthetic orthographic views and an unrolled view of the soffit and abutments here (bold text is a link, links will open in a new tab):

  1. What are the main defects visible (not every crack and weed)

  2. Are there any safety critical issues?

  3. Do we think the structure is suffering significant live load damage?

  4. Is there a capacity issue?

  5. What is the main issue?
